OVH Eco or Kimsufi? License cPanel for $8 — Not $69.99 (2026)

OVH Eco or Kimsufi? License cPanel for $8 — Not $69.99 (2026)

You just ordered a cheap OVH Eco, Kimsufi, or SoYouStart box because the metal is $35–$60 a month. Then the panel quote lands: official cPanel Premier Metal is $69.99/month because Solo, Admin, and Pro are Cloud-only. The hardware is no longer the expensive line. The seat is.

That inversion kills small dedicated fleets. A $45 OVH Eco node plus a $70 panel is a $115 stack before CloudLinux, backups, or IPs. You cannot sell $8.99 shared hosting on that math. You need an affordable WHM license that matches budget metal — not a Store list price built for enterprise clouds.

Compare plans and lock a $4.50 VPS or $8.00 dedicated seat with unlimited WHM accounts. Activate now in the client area.

Why OVH-class metal and Store pricing do not mix

OVHcloud, Kimsufi, SoYouStart, and OVH Eco exist to make dedicated hardware cheap. Official 2026 Store pricing does the opposite on bare metal:

  • Solo $29.99 — 1 account, Cloud only
  • Admin $35.99 — 5 accounts, Cloud only
  • Pro $53.99 — 30 accounts + $0.49 overage, Cloud only
  • Premier $69.99 — 100 accounts + $0.49 overage, required on dedicated / Metal

Put Premier on a $39 Kimsufi and the license is almost 1.8× the server. Five Eco nodes at $50 hardware + $69.99 panel = $599.95/month in licenses alone. Stay there a year and you have paid about $840 per node for the panel — enough for another dedicated box.

Resellers who price against Hostinger and Namecheap feel it first. Hardware was supposed to be the moat. The Store seat closed it. Read the FAQ if you are comparing activation and account limits, then price the seat independently of the datacenter.

OVH’s catalog is also a trap for mixed fleets. You might start on a Public Cloud VPS with a Cloud-tier Store seat, then lift a busy client to Eco metal. The Store does not let you keep Pro at $53.99 on dedicated. The move to metal is a forced upgrade to Premier Metal. Operators delay that upgrade for months, oversubscribe the VPS, and burn support hours — all to avoid a $16 jump that is actually a $70 line. An affordable WHM license prices VPS and metal as $4.50 and $8.00. The upgrade is a $3.50 delta, which is the cost of a coffee, not a board meeting.

Datacenter extras compound the same way. Failover IP, extra SAN, and a second NIC are rational when the panel is $8. They look wasteful when the panel is $70 and you are already underwater on the first node. Budget metal hosts win by stacking cheap hardware and a cheap seat. One without the other is a hobby.

The affordable WHM license that fits budget dedicated

cPanelSave licenses are reseller seats with cPanelSave support — not a manufacturer endorsement. You get WHM, direct updates, stable IP activation, and unlimited cPanel accounts on that server. That is the model shared hosts actually need.

  • cPanel VPS License — $4.50/month (Most Popular) — VPS, VDS, and cloud instances, including OVH VPS
  • cPanel Dedicated License — $8.00/month — bare-metal / dedicated (Kimsufi, Eco, SoYouStart, colo)
  • CloudLinux License — $4.00/month — LVE isolation so noisy neighbors cannot wreck a dense Eco box
  • LiteSpeed — pair for speed tiers; see plans

ROI: one Kimsufi vs five Eco nodes

Use conservative 2026 Store list prices. Your invoice may be higher with overages.

  • 1 dedicated node: Premier Metal $69.99 vs cPanelSave $8.00 = $61.99/month saved (~$744/year)
  • 1 OVH VPS: Pro $53.99 vs $4.50 = $49.49/month saved (~$594/year)
  • 5 Eco dedicated: 5 × $69.99 = $349.95 vs 5 × $8.00 = $40.00 → $309.95/month saved (~$3,719/year)
  • Mixed 3 VPS + 2 metal: (3 × $53.99) + (2 × $69.99) = $301.95 vs (3 × $4.50) + (2 × $8.00) = $29.50 → $272.45/month saved
  • Stack: $8 dedicated + $4 CloudLinux = $12 vs Premier + official CloudLinux on metal

Twenty shared clients at $9.99 is $199.80 MRR. After $69.99 Premier you have $129.81 before hardware. After an $8.00 affordable WHM license you have $191.80. That $62 gap is ads, a second location, or LiteSpeed — not the Store.

Walk a realistic first-year Kimsufi reseller. Hardware $45 × 12 = $540. Premier Metal $69.99 × 12 = $839.88. Panel is 61% of the two-line stack. Swap to $8.00 × 12 = $96 and the panel is 15% of the same hardware. You did not change cPanel features. You changed which company invoices the seat. cPanelSave has done that for operators since 2017 with instant activation in the client area.

If you add CloudLinux ($4.00) to protect density, the licensed stack is $12 on metal or $8.50 on VPS. That is still less than a single week of Premier Metal. LiteSpeed on top remains a product decision you can sell as a speed SKU; the panel tax no longer blocks the experiment. Browse current SKUs on plans before you provision the next Eco line.

Same WHM. Same account creation. The difference is whether account 31 costs $0.49 extra or stays inside a flat reseller seat. See bare metal vs $69.99 Premier, Hetzner and Contabo math, and your first dedicated server.

Unlimited accounts on a $40 Kimsufi

Premier’s 100-account cap plus overage is the wrong shape for a dense Eco box. A cPanel reseller license with unlimited WHM accounts lets you fill RAM and disks, not a Store tier. CloudLinux at $4.00 keeps PHP noisy neighbors inside LVEs so density does not become tickets.

That is how you price $6.99 openers without donating the panel. Hardware from OVH is already the commodity. Keep the affordable WHM license as the commodity too.

Account caps also distort migrations. A 40-account book from a retiring host should land on one Eco box. Under Pro you would already be in overage if the Store even allowed Pro on metal. Under Premier you start counting toward 100. Under a flat reseller seat you provision 40 cPanels on day one and keep a buffer for the next book. Unlimited accounts are the difference between “we can take this client” and “we need another $70 node first.”

The same logic applies to staging. A second Eco used for restore tests should not cost a second Premier invoice. At $8.00 you can keep a warm spare, run Transfer Tool, and shut it down later without feeling the Store. That is operational insurance, not luxury.

How to buy and attach the new IP

  1. Confirm the server type: OVH VPS / VDS → $4.50 VPS; Kimsufi, Eco, SoYouStart, dedicated → $8.00 dedicated.
  2. Open cPanelSave plans and pick the matching SKU (add CloudLinux at $4.00 if you sell shared).
  3. Check out at panel.cpanelsave.com and enter the server IP.
  4. Activate in the client area. WHM keeps running; you are not rebuilding the box. Direct updates continue.

Changing IP after a reinstall? Issue a new activation for the new address — far cheaper than a second Premier month. Details: all licenses.

FAQ

Is a cheap seat stable on OVH Eco and Kimsufi?

Stability is the machine, the OS, and updates. cPanelSave has provided reseller licensing with its own 24/7 support since 2017. You get direct updates and normal WHM. We do not claim to be the manufacturer.

Do I still get cPanel updates?

Yes. Licensed servers pull updates through the normal channels. If an update or IP bind fails, support is in the client area and on contact.

VPS $4.50 or dedicated $8.00 on OVH?

Virtual instances (OVH VPS, Public Cloud) use the $4.50 VPS license. Bare metal (Eco, Kimsufi, SoYouStart, Rise) uses the $8.00 dedicated license. If you are unsure, pick dedicated — still ~$62 under Premier Metal.

Are WHM accounts really unlimited?

Yes on that licensed server. No 30-account Pro cap, no $0.49 overage, no 100-account Premier ceiling. That is the reseller point of a cPanel reseller license.

What if the license is not a fit?

See refund terms on the FAQ before you buy. Most operators know within the first activation whether WHM is live on the new IP.

Lock the $8 metal seat before the next OVH invoice

Budget dedicated only works when the panel is budget too. Official Premier Metal at $69.99 turns a $40 Kimsufi into a $110 problem. An affordable WHM license at $8.00/month (or $4.50 on VPS) with unlimited accounts puts the margin back in shared hosting.
